"The Offering" is the latest recording from New York native Larry Willis. Larry one of my favorite pianist, does not disappoint on this his third effort for HighNote records. He penned three of the eight songs on this project. The original and hauntingly beautiful “Ethiopia”is a favorite, along with the Ellington composition “Melancholia” which I heard him perform live recently-outstanding performance with Tony Pancella. The cd also features his label mate Eric Alexander on tenor saxophone, Eddie Gomez – bass and Billy Drummond – drums. Treat yourself to this one.
